📅 DeliverDate Pro User Guide

Master delivery date management and configuration

Quick Navigation

⚠️ Important: Date Modifier Required

DeliverDate Pro only works on products with a Date modifier applied. You must manually add a Date modifier to each product where you want the delivery date picker to appear. This app does not automatically add date pickers to all products — it only configures the rules and restrictions for products that already have Date modifiers.

🛠️ How to add:

BigCommerce Admin → Products → Edit Product → Options/Modifiers tab → Add Modifier → Select "Date" type

📊 Admin Panel Overview

The DeliverDate Pro admin panel is your control center for delivery date configuration. Access it anytime by:

  1. Going to Apps & Features → My Apps in BigCommerce
  2. Finding DeliverDate Pro
  3. Clicking Launch

⚙️ Basic Settings

Configure the core parameters for your delivery date system.

Store Timezone

Select your store's timezone from the dropdown. This is critical for accurate date calculations.

Minimum Delivery Days

How many days in the future can customers select a delivery date?

Maximum Delivery Days

What's the latest date customers can schedule delivery?

⚠️ Important: Minimum Delivery Days must be less than Maximum Delivery Days. System will enforce this.

🕒 Business Hours

Tell customers which days you're open for delivery orders.

How It Works

  1. Check the box next to each day you operate
  2. Unchecked days appear grayed out in the date picker
  3. Customers cannot select delivery on days you're closed

Day Labels

Customize the label for each day of the week. By default, Sunday is labeled "Pickup Only".

✓ Pro Tip: Use consistent naming across all days (either "Open" / "Closed" or "Delivery" / "Pickup Only")

Example Configurations

Monday-Friday Delivery: Check Mon-Fri, uncheck Sat-Sun

6-Day Operation: Check Mon-Sat, uncheck Sun only

24/7 Operation: Check all days

🎉 Holidays & Blackout Dates

Block specific dates when your store is closed or unavailable for delivery.

Holidays (Annual)

Holidays repeat every year automatically.

  1. Click "Add Holiday"
  2. Enter the date in MM-DD format (e.g., 12-25 for Christmas)
  3. Enter a tooltip (e.g., "Christmas - Closed")
  4. Click "Save Config"

Common Holidays Examples

Blackout Dates (One-Off)

Block specific dates when you won't be available (vacation, inventory, etc.).

  1. Click "Add Blackout Date"
  2. Enter the date in YYYY-MM-DD format (e.g., 2026-03-15)
  3. Click "Save Config"

Blackout Date Use Cases

Holiday Tooltips

Customize the message that appears when customers hover over a holiday date.

Date Format Reminder:
  • Holidays: MM-DD (e.g., 12-25)
  • Blackouts: YYYY-MM-DD (e.g., 2026-12-25)

🔄 Recurring Closures

Block entire days of the week from customer selection (independent of Business Hours).

How It Differs from Business Hours

When to Use

Example: You're open Monday-Saturday, but your logistics only handles weekday deliveries. Set Sunday and Saturday as recurring closures.

  1. Check "Disable Sunday" and "Disable Saturday"
  2. Even though your store is open, customers can't select those days
  3. Useful for separating "open" from "delivery available"
⚠️ Note: If you've already set Business Hours, Recurring Closures is optional. Use one or the other (or both for extra control).

✏️ Customization

Personalize the date picker to match your brand.

Custom Button Text

Replace "Select Delivery Date" with your own label.

Using Date Templates

Include {date} in your button text to show the selected date.

Holiday Tooltip Text

Customize what appears when customers hover over a holiday or blackout date.

✓ Brand Consistency: Use your brand voice in button text and tooltips

💡 Best Practices

1. Set Your Timezone First

This is the most critical setting. Double-check it's correct before configuring holidays/blackouts.

2. Plan Your Minimum Delivery Days

Consider:

3. Be Clear with Customers

Use custom button text and holiday tooltips to set expectations:

4. Update Blackout Dates Early

Add vacation and maintenance windows 1-2 months in advance so customers can plan.

5. Test the Picker

After saving config:

6. Document Changes

The app tracks save history automatically, but document major changes in your business notes for future reference.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the date picker work on Catalyst storefronts?

A: Yes! DeliverDate Pro fully supports both Stencil and Catalyst storefronts. The app automatically detects your theme type and adapts. Catalyst storefronts show day-of-week labels (e.g., "Sun, Dec 25") in the date display.

Q: Does it work with Multi-Storefront setups?

A: Absolutely! When you save your configuration, the app automatically injects the script across all your storefronts (requires the store_channel_settings_read_only OAuth scope, which is granted during installation).

Q: Why does the date picker disappear after I change config?

A: Clear your browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) and refresh. The app updates in real-time.

Q: Can I set multiple blackout dates at once?

A: Currently you add them one at a time, but you can add them quickly. We recommend batching them when planning vacation.

Q: What if I forget to add a holiday?

A: No problem! Add it anytime. Customers who already ordered won't be affected. Future orders will see the updated dates.

Q: Does the date picker work on mobile?

A: Yes! The picker is fully responsive and works on all devices. Tap the button to open the calendar.

Q: Can customers still place orders on disabled dates?

A: No. Disabled dates are grayed out and unselectable in the picker. Orders can't proceed without a valid date.

Q: What happens to orders during daylight saving time?

A: Our system uses your selected timezone and handles DST automatically. No action needed from you.

Q: Can I set different delivery dates for different products?

A: Currently, all products use the same delivery date rules. If you need product-specific dates, contact us about custom solutions.

Q: How often should I review my configuration?

A: Review quarterly or when:

Q: What if my store operates 24/7?

A: Check all days under Business Hours and set Minimum Delivery Days to 0. Customers can order anytime.
