Prerequisites
What You Need
- BigCommerce store admin access
- Permission to install third-party apps
- At least one product in your store (templates can apply to new products too)
- Understanding of product modifiers (or we can help!)
Note: This app works with all modifier types including text, dropdown, checkbox, radio buttons, and numeric fields.
Step 1
Install the App from BigCommerce Marketplace
- Log in to your BigCommerce admin dashboard
- Navigate to Apps & Features → Apps → My Apps
- Search for "Bulk Modifier Templates"
- Click the app card to view details
- Click "Install" button
- Review the permissions requested and click "Install" to confirm
✓ Success: App is now installed and visible in your My Apps list
Step 2
Authorize the App
- In BigCommerce admin, go to Apps & Features → My Apps
- Find "Bulk Modifier Templates" in your installed apps list
- Click "Launch" to open the app
- You'll be redirected to the BigCommerce OAuth authorization screen
- Review the requested scopes and click "Install"
- The app dashboard will load automatically
Note: The app requires read/write access to:
- Products and product modifiers
- Store information
Step 3
Create Your First Template
- Click "New Template" in the dashboard
- Enter a template name (e.g., "Size Options" or "Color + Material")
- Add modifier options:
- Option name (e.g., "Small", "Medium", "Large")
- Price adjustment (e.g., +$0, +$2, +$5)
- Set adjustment type (fixed amount or percentage)
- Click "Save Template"
✓ Template Created: Your template is now ready to apply to products
Step 4
Apply Template to Products
- Select your template from the list
- Click "Select Products"
- Choose how to select products:
- By Category: Select all products in a category
- By Filters: Filter by price range, inventory status, etc.
- Individually: Search and select specific products
- Review the selected products
- Click "Apply Template"
- Confirm the operation - template will be applied to all selected products
⚠️ Important: Applied templates will overwrite existing modifiers for those products. Review your selection carefully.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues & Solutions
❌ Template not applying to products
- Check permissions: Ensure app has write access to products
- Check product selection: Verify products are selected before applying
- Try single product: Test with one product first to isolate issues
🔄 Modifier conflict with existing options
- Solution: Create a new template with all desired options including existing ones
- Note: Templates replace modifiers completely, they don't merge
❓ Can't access the dashboard
- Check permissions: Ensure your BigCommerce user has app permissions
- Try again: Go to Apps & Features → My Apps → Bulk Templates → Launch
- Contact support: If you continue to see errors, reach out to us
